I remember a day when Mother’s Day was simple and carefree. When dad loaded us up in the car, we went down to the grocery store (the day before…lol) to pick out some carnations and a card. This was the ritual until I was able to do these gestures on my own.
When I became a mom, it seemed the ritual changed in that my hope was that my spouse would do the same for me with my own children.
But something more was the mindfulness that not every woman will experience this day in the same way.
What every woman can do today is give herself the gift of grace. Giving yourself grace means allowing whatever emotion comes up for you today and just allowing it to be there. Be aware of the thoughts you are thinking. It is totally ok to absolutely love this day, and it is totally ok to hate this day. You are human!
Have a beautiful week friends.
